CHIEF INSTRUCTOR ASHLEY KIRON EAGLESTONE

As a young boy, coming from a one parent family with a younger brother, and being extremely tall for my age, I found myself being picked on regularly at school and around my neighbourhood by older lads.

Unfortunately I had no-one to fight my battles for me apart from my not so very patient mother, who to be frank was sick and tired of the trouble.

With me using the threat that 'my uncle would sort you out' wearing a bit thin on the bullies, I decided to join a local boxing club in which I paid ten pence a lesson (or something ridiculous like that) to get my head beaten in by older lads again!

It did toughen me up and I did learn good hand skills. Luckily, in the same Swindon Youth Club, a Higashi Karate Club, ran by a man called Terry Smally started in which I immediately joined. This started me on the road in martial arts.

Over the last twenty three years of training in martial arts, I have found pretty good tuition, and learnt various styles and methods. I have learnt that martial arts is a forever lasting journey which will always be part of my life and my family's.

Through my students, I will pass on my knowledge.

My last words for now are 'BE KIND, TRAIN HARD AND STRIVE TO BE THE BEST'.
